Supporting Safe Access at Kotoka International Airport
Providing access at 40 metres is one challenge. Designing that access around a control tower with curved corners and changing geometry is another. At Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Uni-span supported Amandi on the cladding works for the new control tower with a tailored scaffolding solution designed specifically around the structure and the needs of the team working on it.
Our role went beyond supplying equipment. We helped develop an access solution that could safely follow the tower’s geometry while giving the cladding teams practical, reliable working areas at height. The system incorporated Uni-Stage scaffolding, steel working platforms, ladder access, bracing and cantilever brackets, with the material supplied across three phases to align with progress on site.
This phased approach helped ensure the right equipment was available when needed, while the scaffold design allowed the team to work efficiently around the more complex areas of the tower. Safety was equally important. Uni-span also facilitated certified Working at Height training for 74 Amandi personnel, helping ensure the teams using the system were properly prepared for the conditions and risks involved.
This demonstrates the value we bring beyond the equipment itself. Our combination of technical design, dependable supply, practical site support and safety training, helps clients solve complex access challenges and keep work moving with confidence.
At Kotoka International Airport, that meant creating a solution that could adapt to a demanding structure, support the construction programme and provide safe access where it mattered most.
